Read deliberately

Books worth the shelf space

Stoic classics, meditation guides, prompt cards and the few quiet objects that belong beside them — a shelf we can defend title by title.

On curation

A short shelf is a recommendation

There are thousands of mindfulness titles and most repeat each other. What is here is what we would hand across the counter, with an edition note where the translation or the annotation actually changes the book.

Before you order

Which translation of Meditations should I read?

It depends what you want from it. A modern plain-English rendering reads quickly and suits a first pass; an annotated edition is slower but explains the Stoic context. Both are on the shelf and each listing names its edition.

Are these new or used?

Everything listed online is new stock. Second-hand titles stay in the shop, where you can look at the condition yourself.

Do you take special orders?

Yes — if it is in print we can usually get it. Email the title and the ISBN if you have it, and we will confirm availability and timing.

How are books packed?

Books ship in rigid board mailers rather than padded envelopes. If something arrives damaged, the Returns & Refunds page sets out the window and the process.
